Upper Deck Signs Ichiro to Exclusive

08/15/01 - The Upper Deck Company announced today that they have signed Seattle Mariners superstar Ichiro Suzuki to an exclusive agreement that will give them the sole rights to market autograph and memorabilia cards.   The agreement which should be signed in the next month and is scheduled to last for one year also gives the card manufacturer exclusive rights to feature Ichiro's image on its packaging.  This adds the hottest name in baseball to an already impressive list of current and past superstars who have been signed by Upper Deck including Ken Griffey Jr., Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Wayne Gretzky.

"Needless to say, we are thrilled to have reached a comprehensive trading card, memorabilia and collectibles agreement with Ichiro," Kerri Stockholm, Upper Deck's senior baseball product manager, said. "As an athlete with unparalleled worldwide appeal, Ichiro is a most welcome addition to the Upper Deck team and we look forward to developing a complete portfolio of high quality, collectible products that will highlight his exceptional talents and achievements." .
