TOPPS AND PSA TO ADD A TWIST TO THE WORLD OF CARD GRADING
When collectors finally get a chance to open their box of the highly anticipated 2001 Topps Reserve Baseball, they will be in for quite a treat. Not only will they receive an autographed baseball, a sequentially numbered rookie card, a game-used uniform or bat card and 10-packs of super-premium baseball cards, but they will also receive the first of many Topps/PSA exclusive items. Topps Reserve Baseball will be the platform for a graded card that is first of its kind.
Each box of 2001 Topps Reserve Baseball will include a PSA graded Topps Reserve rookie card (image attached). The first 555 of the 1500 sequentially numbered rookie cards (45 subjects including rookie phenom Albert Pujols) will be graded. Now the catch--each graded card will feature the respective player's autograph, but not on the card! The autograph will be featured on the flip (where the actual grade is traditionally printed) alongside with the player's photograph. The numerical grade will be on the backside of the flip. 2001 Topps Reserve releases Aug. 1.
