IN THE GAME ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF THEIR POPULAR
BE A PLAYER MEMORABILIA BRAND FOR 2001-02.

(Toronto, ON; August 20, 2001);

In the Game, Inc., the manufacturer of the Be A Player and Parkhurst brands of hockey cards has announced its Be A Player Memorabilia brand of hockey cards is returning for a third season in 2001-02.

This year more than ever, Be A Player Memorabilia is a brand that lives up to its name, thanks to the inclusion of one game-used memorabilia card in every single box. Not only that, but hobbyists will also be quite pleased at the built-in collectibility of these cards. The production run for every memorabilia card will not exceed 100 cards and in most cases will be significantly lower than 100.

"After addressing the issue of authenticity by creating our Chain of Custody policy and then producing decoy cards to deter pack searching, we are now focusing on the collectibility of our memorabilia cards," said Dr. Brian H. Price, President of In the Game, Inc. "Producing hundreds and hundreds of one memorabilia card leaves you something of little value and this is what we want to avoid. Our new policy ensures greater value."

Leading the way in the insert program are the game-worn All-Star Jersey cards. Pulling a game-worn jersey card out of a pack of cards remains a thrill for all collectors but landing an All-Star jersey card... now we're talking about something special.

The Memorabilia Series includes a whopping 50-card set of All-Star Game-Worn Jersey cards from all the big names such as Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy, Steve Yzerman, Jaromir Jagr, Ray Bourque, and Eric Lindros. These jerseys were used in several All-Star games throughout the years including Denver (2001); Toronto (2000); Tampa Bay (1999); Vancouver (1998); and Boston (1996). In addition, there are also Emblem and Numbers versions of these cards. These are extremely limited and feature jersey swatches that incorporate the actual emblems and numbers from the jersey. Pull one of these and you¹ll become an all-star collector!

The All-Star parade doesn¹t end there either. Double Game-Worn All-Star Jersey cards sport two unique swatches of jersey from the same player in two different games. Imagine getting a Patrick Roy card with a piece of his 1994 All-Star jersey from a game played in New York¹s Madison Square Garden as well as a piece of his jersey from the 2001 match in Denver! There are 30 spectacular combinations just like that in this set.

Adding another twist to the All-Star Game-Worn Jersey card concept is the All-Star Teammates insert set of 50 cards. These cards feature pairs and trios of teammates from various All-Star games throughout the years along with pieces of game-worn All-Star jerseys. Some of the more intriguing combinations include Wayne Gretzky and Patrick Roy from the 1998 contest in Vancouver; Jaromir Jagr and Pavel Bure from the 2000 match in Toronto; and Mario Lemieux, Paul Kariya, and Simon Gagné from the 2001 game in Denver.

All hockey fans know how special it is to score 500 goals in your NHL® career. Only 28 players in history have ever done it. The Memorabilia Series pays tribute to these superstars with a series of game-worn jersey cards featuring 500-goal scorers. You¹ll find all your heroes from Gordie Howe and Maurice Richard to Mario Lemieux and Steve Yzerman.

"Finding game-worn jerseys of the 500-goal scorers was tough," admitted Dr. Price. "We have been working on acquiring these jerseys for more than two years. Guys like Stan Mikita, Frank Mahovlich, Phil Esposito, and Johnny Bucyk were all a challenge but that¹s what we enjoy most."

Did you enjoy the 2000-01 playoffs? Thanks to the 32-card NHL® Stanley Cup® Playoffs game-worn jersey card series, you can relive many of the fabulous memories from last spring with cards featuring Raymond Bourque, Conn Smythe Trophy winner Patrick Roy, Scott Gomez, and Johan Hedberg.

Another special 14-card series of jersey cards called Stanley Cup Champions presents many of the key players from the 2000-01 champion Colorado Avalanche® along with swatches of their game-worn jerseys. Roy, Bourque, Sakic, Forsberg, Hejduk, Drury... they're all in this fitting tribute.

True hockey fans know that no hockey player past or present is revered the way the great Maurice Rocket Richard is. Even 40 years after he last skated in the NHL®, fans and teammates refer to him in amazement. Now 10 of his most prominent teammates will be honored in a unique set called Rocket's Mates. The set features the likes of Jean Béliveau, Doug Harvey, Bernie Geoffrion and Jacques Plante to name a few along with a piece of Richard¹s game-worn jersey.

Goalie fans will have special inserts that will stimulate their interest too. There is a 20-card set of game-worn memorabilia cards focusing on all of today¹s premier puckstoppers. You will also find the 42-card Goalie Traditions memorabilia card set featuring intriguing combinations of big-name netminders from each of the NHL's® original-six teams. Eighteen cards highlight one goalie, another 18 present two top goalies from the same team, while the final six cards present three goaltending legends from the same team. Imagine pulling a card with pieces of game-worn memorabilia from Curtis Joseph, Johnny Bower, and Turk Broda!

The thrill of international competition is something that lends itself very nicely to the sport of hockey, especially in light of the large number of tournaments and competitions that take place on a regular basis. This is the inspiration behind the Country of Origin insert set. This set features 40  cards complemented with a piece of the flag emblem originally found on the players' All-Star jerseys. See the best every hockey nation has to offer on a striking card design.

The Patented Power insert set was extremely popular last year and is back again in this year¹s product. Itis a nifty six-card set utilizing combinations of today's most prominent stars and featuring what else? Pieces of game-worn jersey of course. Enjoy pairings like Steve Yzerman with Peter Forsberg, and Paul Kariya with Joe Sakic.

You'll also notice every pack of the 2001-02 Memorabilia Series that does not include a memorabilia card contains one special He Shoots, He Scores decoy card or a Draft Day Redemption decoy card. These decoy cards serve two purposes. They are the same thickness as all our memorabilia inserts and thus virtually prevent pack searching. In the case of the He Shoots, He Scores cards, each comes with a designated value in terms of redemption points. The redemption points can also be accumulated and exchanged for a unique and extremely limited series of game-worn memorabilia cards not found anywhere else.

The Draft Day Redemption decoy cards are part of a new program initiated by In the Game. Each of these features a number from one to 30 representing each of the top-30 choices in the recent 2001 Entry Draft. As the top draft choices make their NHL® debut, collectors can send in their Draft Day Redemption card for the corresponding player. For more information on all the details of this exciting concept as well as regular updates on the status of each of the players, please check our website at www.baptradingcards.com.

"We are very proud of the Memorabilia Series," said Dr. Price, "and we hope Be A Player fans will enjoy collecting these cards as much as we enjoyed making them. I can¹t wait for the release date."

Each pack of 2001-02 Be A Player Memorabilia Series will hold six cards plus a decoy or memorabilia card. There are 24 packs in a box. Every box will contain one memorabilia card. The scheduled release date for this product is August 22, 2001. A complete checklist of all the cards in 2001-02 Memorabilia Series is available on the website at www.baptradingcards.com.

In the Game, Inc. has produced the Be A Player brands of hockey trading cards since 1998-99 including the Memorabilia Series, the Signature Series, and the Ultimate Memorabilia Series.
