Player Ultimate Memorabilia a Sellout
IN THE GAME ANNOUNCES THEIR 2000-01 BE A PLAYER
THE ULTIMATE MEMORABILIA BRAND HAS OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT
(Toronto, ON; June 4, 2001)
In the Game, Inc., the manufacturer of the Be A Player and Parkhurst brands of hockey
cards has announced its new Be A Player The Ultimate Memorabilia brand has sold out.
This product, which predominantly features memorabilia cards as well as plenty of
autographs, was limited to a production run of 25,000 sequentially numbered cards. Each
card was sealed inside a hard clear plastic shell and placed in a black felt tray. Every
pack held one card and each box contained five packs.
The product broke down into 30 unique subsets such as Autographed cards, Game-Used Jersey
cards, Game-Used Stick cards, Goalie Game-Used Stick cards, and Teammates dual Game-Used
Some of the more unique subsets include Jacques Plante Game-Used Skate cards; Autographed
Goalie Legend Memorabilia cards; Magnificent Ones Game-Used Jersey cards honouring Mario
Lemieux; Gordie Howe Game-Used Jersey cards; Maurice Richard Cut Autograph cards; and Hart
Trophy Game-Used Trophy cards.
The product included the biggest names in hockey history including current stars like
Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy, Steve Yzerman, Joe Sakic, and Jaromir Jagr along with retired
legends Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard, Jacques Plante, Terry Sawchuk, Vladislav Tretiak,
and Georges Vézina.
We were asked to produce a brand where memorabilia card collectors didn't have to open
thousands of foil packs and hope to get what they wanted, and we responded, explained In
the Game, Inc. President Dr. Brian Price. E-mails have been pouring in with thanks for
this product and we are more than delighted with the response.
Even the limited amount of product initially available through eBay Canada and at
www.nhl.com sold through quickly proving demand outstripped anticipation.

Furthermore, according to Ted Saskin, Senior Director of Business Affairs and Licensing
for the National Hockey League Players Association, money generated from the project has
been specifically targeted for causes designed to promote the game of hockey across the
