2000-01 Be A Player Ultimate Memorabilia a Sellout

IN THE GAME ANNOUNCES THEIR 2000-01 BE A PLAYER THE ULTIMATE MEMORABILIA BRAND HAS OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT

(Toronto, ON; June 4, 2001)

In the Game, Inc., the manufacturer of the Be A Player and Parkhurst brands of hockey cards has announced its new Be A Player The Ultimate Memorabilia brand has sold out.

This product, which predominantly features memorabilia cards as well as plenty of autographs, was limited to a production run of 25,000 sequentially numbered cards. Each card was sealed inside a hard clear plastic shell and placed in a black felt tray. Every pack held one card and each box contained five packs.

The product broke down into 30 unique subsets such as Autographed cards, Game-Used Jersey cards, Game-Used Stick cards, Goalie Game-Used Stick cards, and Teammates dual Game-Used Jersey cards.

Some of the more unique subsets include Jacques Plante Game-Used Skate cards; Autographed Goalie Legend Memorabilia cards; Magnificent Ones Game-Used Jersey cards honouring Mario Lemieux; Gordie Howe Game-Used Jersey cards; Maurice Richard Cut Autograph cards; and Hart Trophy Game-Used Trophy cards.

The product included the biggest names in hockey history including current stars like Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy, Steve Yzerman, Joe Sakic, and Jaromir Jagr along with retired legends Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard, Jacques Plante, Terry Sawchuk, Vladislav Tretiak, and Georges Vézina.

We were asked to produce a brand where memorabilia card collectors didn't have to open thousands of foil packs and hope to get what they wanted, and we responded, explained In the Game, Inc. President Dr. Brian Price. E-mails have been pouring in with thanks for this product and we are more than delighted with the response.

Even the limited amount of product initially available through eBay Canada and at www.nhl.com sold through quickly proving demand outstripped anticipation.

"The NHL is thrilled with the success of Ultimate Memorabilia and In The Game's response to their customers feedback in creating this unique product, said Linda Santiago, Coordinator of Electronic Games and Trading Cards with NHL Enterprises. We are excited about next season's brand releases as In The Game markets new and exciting products."

Furthermore, according to Ted Saskin, Senior Director of Business Affairs and Licensing for the National Hockey League Players Association, money generated from the project has been specifically targeted for causes designed to promote the game of hockey across the globe.

"The members of the NHLPA were pleased to sign their Be A Player cards for the fans, said Saskin. It is, however, an even greater reward that all of the NHLPA royalties from this card set will go to our Goals & Dreams fund, the grass-roots hockey initiative of the NHLPA (see www.nhlpa.com)."
